Washington, D.C. – September 25, 2023 – Commonwealth Strategic Partners (CSP) is proud to announce that the Homes for Every Local Protector, Educator, and Responder Act (HELPER Act), has received over 100 mayoral endorsements from across the United States. This diverse coalition of mayors represents 28 states and over 11.5 million Americans.

The HELPER Act, originally introduced in 2021 during the 117th Congress, would create a home loan program similar to the popular VA home loan available to our nation’s veterans. It would offer police and corrections officers, firefighters, EMTs and paramedics, and preK-12 teachers who are first-time homebuyers a Federal Housing Administration-insured loan with
100% financing, no down payment, and no monthly mortgage insurance. The HELPER Act would remove some of the barriers that prevent many of our first responders and teachers from homeownership.

“We are immensely grateful for the support and recognition the HELPER Act has received from mayors nationwide. This milestone speaks volumes about the necessity and timeliness of this legislation,” said George McElwee, Co-founder and Managing Partner of Commonwealth Strategic Partners. “We remain dedicated to advocating for this crucial initiative and encouraging more stakeholders to join us in this journey to uplift our community heroes.”

“The support of over one hundred mayors is a real testament to the need for the HELPER Act,” said Samuel P. Royer, the visionary behind the HELPER Act. “Every endorsement fuels our determination to pass the HELPER Act into law and provide a brighter, more accessible path to homeownership for those who serve our communities tirelessly every day.”

The HELPER Act is also endorsed by major unions, including the Fraternal Order of Police, International Association of Fire Fighters, International Association of EMTs and Paramedics, and the National Education Association.
