Sens. Rubio, Ossoff, and Brown and Reps. Rutherford, Watson Coleman Reintroduce Bipartisan HELPER Act for First Responders and Teachers
WASHINGTON, D.C. – MAY 11, 2023 – Salute Home Loans is proud to announce the reintroduction of the Homes for Every Local Protector, Educator, and Responder (HELPER) Act. Introduced in the Senate as S.1514 by Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), Jon Ossoff (D-GA), and Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and in the House as H.R.3170 by Representatives John Rutherford (R-FL) and Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ), the HELPER Act is a bipartisan and bicameral bill designed to give back to the first responders and educators who have given us all so much. The HELPER Act would establish a home loan program under the Federal Housing Administration similar to the popular and successful VA home loan program available to our nation’s veterans. Available to police and corrections officers, firefighters, EMTs and paramedics, and preK-12 teachers, a HELPER home loan would require no down payment and no monthly mortgage insurance payments for a first-time home purchase. At a time of skyrocketing home prices, the HELPER Act would make homeownership more accessible for America’s hometown heroes. “Huge thanks to Senators Rubio, Ossoff, and Brown and Representatives Rutherford and Watson Coleman,” said Samuel P. Royer, the founder and president of Salute Home Loans and visionary behind the HELPER
